The Wiggy House - Mobile Version

The Wiggy House is now mobile!  Back in June, we found a great deal on a Class A RV.  At the time, we were discussing upgrading from our current pop-up camper to a hybrid camper, plus a vehicle upgrade so that we could tow a larger camper.  The opportunity to purchase a 1999 Four Winds Windsport Class A motorhome fell into our laps and we took it!  No more worrying about deflating air mattresses (tent camping days), water leaks (tent and pop-up camper days), trying to make sure its not going to be smoldering hot because we have no a/c (tent and pop-up days), trying to pack everything in the least amount of space possible (tent and pop-up days), opening up the camper to get hot dog sticks or the dutch oven out (pop-up days), etc., etc., etc.  We can now walk right on in, get what we need or put something away, cool off in the a/c, and not fret about stuff getting soaked if it rains (unless we leave a window open).  Now THIS is camping!!!!!!!  :)

Futon!

We have added a new addition to the house, a futon! We desperately needed someplace to sit upstairs and Michel really wanted a futon for up there, so we finally found one we liked and it was delivered this afternoon.

Staircase

We are getting closer to having the house finished. One of the biggest projects we have had on the list for awhile is the staircase. Well, once we get a 3' skirt board cut, stained, varnished, and in place, we will then be able to put on the last two steps and kickplates, the last of the trim on the skirt boards and then the trim along the steps, a baluster piece, a kickplate at the very bottom, and trim to outline the steps on the wall side. Maybe be the end of the holiday weekend........

Once the staircase is complete all that is left is finishing the tile around the tub in the master bath, baseboards, guttering and staining the front porch.

2 Years Ago........

August 4, 2008 was the day we broke ground on the house. Although the house still isn't completely finished, its definitely a lot further along than it was two years ago, or even a year ago. We moved in (for the most part) just before school started last year although we were still working on painting and getting flooring down. This year all we have left to do is 13 more stairs (Two of the stairs and kick plates are finished and in place, and most of the skirt boards to the staircase are done.) along with the banister and trim, some baseboards, some door trim, and tile around the tub in the master bathroom, along with the tub faucet.

We are still in love with our new house and haven't really found any thing we would change about it.

Last one!

I just finished staining the LAST interior door!!!!!! This door is for the Master Bathroom and still needs to be varnished, but the staining is done! Now we just have trim to stain, some tiling around the tub in the Master Bath, a tub faucet, and then the staircase to complete before we can say we are finished. Here's hoping we can get it done before August 4 of this year. That is the 2 year anniversary of when we started digging.

Some more recent pictures

I didn't realize that it had been so long since I had posted anything on here. The living room pictures are definitely old, since we have had trim around the window and around the ceiling for more than a couple of months. Although these pictures were taken just after Christmas, they do represent the current state of the living room, dining room, and kitchen a bit better.

A couple of updated pictures.....

We've been working hard, but its not showing very much. It takes a couple of days for me to get trim boards ready to for Michel to put up and he goes through them in just a couple of hours, so the trim progress is slow. We have gotten carpet down in Dillon's room, starting putting in carpet upstairs, and the tile on the floor in the Master bathroom is finished. We have to put the tile backsplash around the tub and all the tiling will be finished in the house. We haven't started on the stairway yet, but we've got most of the other big projects about ready to wrap up, so we are going to get started on the stairway soon.
Pictures: 1. Michel is working really hard (Can't you see how fast he's moving?!?) on laying tile around the tub area. 2. Dillon's room with the walls painted and his Star War pictures hung.
